WEB$50K-$100K for a boat and people shop for the cheapest fuel stabilizer they can find. Kind of like buying $250 reels and putting them on $50 rods. I don't have an answer or opinion, just an observation. Like most people, I use that cheap Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer but I doubt that any stabilizer is needed for storage of less than 12 months.

If you want the best fuel system cleaner then buy some Chevron Techron it’s the best fuel system cleaner on the market. Sta-bil is the best Stabilizer, and if you have a big ol diesel then you gotta go with power service cetane boost.

The engine (elderly but well maintained 50 HP direct injection Yamaha) then ran poorly at low revs (tested on water muffs - the boat is in my driveway), surging but not quite stalling.

Adding alcohol to fuel results in a leaner burning motor as the percentage of alcohol increases. Get too lean and you will loose performance and or eventually fry the motor.
