The GTN will anúnciate this, but it is usually outside of the field of view required. Adding an annunciator/switch is probably more expensive than you want to mess with.

WEBNov 28, 2016 · Thanks. I checked and the SD card from Garmin is 8GB FAT32 with a volume label of "GARMIN". The reason I asked is because I was wondering if one could just keep a card in the plane and a card at home and swap them as databases become updated. Sounds like that's the case.

WEBNov 4, 2015 · Good stuff. I noticed the GNC255 gives you what looks to be full DME info (distance to station, bearing to station, time to station, etc) - pretty cool. Unfortunately, there is no Supplemental AFM that makes it legal to use as a DME - at least from what I can find. I believe the SL30 has the ability to be used as DME.

Not a big deal if you already have an audio panel or intercom but if your goal is saving panel space the 205/215 may not work for your needs. The Trig radio keeps the slim features with a built in intercom.

WEBNov 4, 2015 · Final Approach. I, for one, get your "logic" re: the GNC 255. The 255 is NOT a run-of-the-mill "basic" radio, it's state of the art with some very innovative features. More importantly it represents the next generation of non-GPS navcoms and makes a lot of sense to get into rather than last-gen stuff.
