Germany will remove Chinese components from the country’s 5G mobile networks by the end of 2029, addressing what the U.S. has warned was a key vulnerability.

Germany’s ruling coalition has agreed on a compromise proposal to strip Huawei Technologies Co. components from the nation’s 5G core mobile network by the end of 2026 for national security reasons.Companies will then have until the end of 2029 to remove parts made by Huawei and its Chinese rival ZTE Corp.

The German government and mobile phone carriers have agreed in principle on steps to phase components by Chinese technology companies out of the nation's 5G wireless network over the next five years,
