One person in a car was among several killed when an air ambulance carrying six crashed Friday night near a mall in northeast Philadelphia.

A medical transport jet carrying a child patient, her mother and four others slammed into a Philadelphia neighborhood and exploded in flames. The child had been treated in Philadelphia for a life-threatening condition and was being transported home to Mexico,

It could be days — or more — until authorities are able to confirm the number of dead and injured, said Adam Thiel, the city's managing director. As of Saturday morning, officials confirmed seven dead — six on the jet, one person on the ground — and 19 injured.
