In August 2024, the band canceled their remaining dates on their “Peace Out… Farewell Tour” and effectively retired from all performances due to Tyler’s throat injury. The singer fractured his larynx in addition to vocal cord damage. Their final concert would be at Elmont, NY, on Sept. 9, 2023.

Legendary classic rock band Chicago will return to the Lehigh Valley for this year’s Musikfest. The festival announced in a news release Monday that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band will perform Aug. 5 at the Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza.

Chicago announced 36 new show dates across the United States for the band’s 2025 tour on Monday. The band will perform at Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston on Aug. 2. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. Fans can shop around for tickets now using reliable third-party ticket sellers like StubHub, VividSeats and SeatGeek.

Three original members remain in Chicago to this day. However, as the band approaches its 60th anniversary, it is possible that the band, which has sold 100 million records, may continue without any original members. Trumpet player Lee Loughnane, 78, left the door open for that scenario in a recent interview on the UCR Podcast.
