The St. Paul Police Department says that officers were involved in a shooting just after 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of Bay Street and Watson Avenue.

Authorities have confirmed that officers with the St. Paul Police Department fatally shot a man on Saturday afternoon, though the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter are vague.

Authorities said the shooting happened as officers responded to a tip on the whereabouts of a homicide suspect — though police have not yet said whether that man is the person who died.
