The spacecraft docked to the International Space Station (ISS) on June 7 with NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore for the Crew Flight Test mission - Boeing's debut with humans. Meant to last a week, the mission has entered July due to faults on Starliner.

Officials have repeatedly hinted that the Starliner, which faced issues with helium leaks and thruster outages heading to the International Space Station in early June, will be safe to bring astronauts including Sunita ‘Suni’ Williams and Butch Wilmore home.

Amid the growing concerns about the Boeing Starliner's return to Earth, NASA has shared some good news. The space agency revealed at a conference last week that the spacecraft is in fairly good shape and can stay in orbit beyond its 45-day limit.

After more than three weeks since their mission began, originally planned for just a few days, astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft still do not know when they will return.

ISRO Chairman S Somanath has dismissed the concerns around Sunita Williams being stuck aboard the International Space Station (ISS). In an exclusive conversation with NDTV, he said that the ISS is a safe place and that is the narrative of being stranded in space is irrelevant.

The Boeing Starliner project, initially expected to last a few days, will likely be extended. The first test with astronauts onboard, including Sunita Williams, has no set return date.

Nasa and Boeing continue testing and analysis on the ground by exploring potential causes for the helium system leaks.

Boeing's Starliner is rated to stay in space for 45 days on its historic first astronaut mission, but that's going to be extended soon. Ground testing on its thrusters will start as soon as July 2.
