Taoiseach Simon Harris has paid tribute to former Mayor of Limerick Gerard Fahy, who has passed away. Mr Fahy, also known as Ger, was first elected to Limerick city council in 1985 and re-elected in 1999 and 2004. He was elected mayor of the city in 2007 and served as a councillor for Fine Gael for two decades.

John Moran said that because the windfall had come from industrial operations in Munster, over half the money should go to the region.

Mayor John Moran suggested that the money should be split with €3.5 billion going to Cork, €2 billion to Waterford, €1 billion to Galway, and €2 billion to Limerick.

The new directly elected mayor of Limerick asked Taoiseach Simon Harris that €2 billion of the Apple tax fund be given directly to the city and county.
