Colorado’s Amtrak-operated Winter Park Express is getting bigger, better, and cheaper. The train, which transports skiers from Denver’s Union Station to Winter Park Resort, will see an expanded operating schedule, reduced fares, and higher passenger capacity this coming ski season.

Following several years of growing ridership and sold-out trains on many weekends, this ski season’s version of Amtrak’s Winter Park Express will advance its previous January debut into December, and then will operate five days per week beginning Jan.

The Winter Park ski train will run more often and cost less to ride this season. The ski train, revived by Amtrak in 2017 as the Winter Park Express, has proven popular in recent years. It’s also been expensive to ride — up to $139 for a round trip between Union Station in Denver and the resort.
