Vice President-elect will resign his upper chamber seat and trigger a selection process followed by a special election.

Several candidates have been floated as possible replacements to Sen. JD Vance in the Senate which will be determined by Ohio's Republican Gov. Mike DeWine.

Vice President-elect JD Vance has served in the U.S. Senate for less than two years and soon the process will begin to pick his replacement in the upper chamber.
