The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. It will be in effect 4 p.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Wednesday. The National Weather service said Monday afternoon that snow could begin in the region as early as 1 to 4 p.

Baltimore residents will start the week off with a sunny outlook, possibly the calm before the storm for what is forecast to be an active week of winter weather. Monday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 45 and winds ranging from 3 to 8 mph.

The first of two winter storms in the forecast for New Jersey this week will arrive as early as Tuesday afternoon and dump 4 to 6 inches of snow to southern counties by Wednesday morning. Forecasters predict 1 to 4 inches of snow in northern and central New Jersey.

Some light snow showers along the system’s northern edge are also possible, National Weather Service forecasters say. Accumulations are expected to be limited, with a coating of less than an inch forecasted for parts of Cape Cod and the South Coast.

Heavy snow is possible across the Washington, D.C. region Tuesday into Wednesday with accumulations between four and six inches possible.
