Apple has decided it will avoid the issue by refusing to allow its generative AI software to be installed on a purchased iPhone. It’s a drastic choice that will be seen as a downgrade by Apple’s dedicated community and leave European iPhones at a disadvantage compared to the Android-based competition.

Apple is raising the price for battery replacements for the new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max phones to $119, up $20 from the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The cost to replace an out-of-warranty battery on an entry-level iPhone 16 model will remain $99, according to Apple's website.

Apple releases two sets of iPhones every year: the standard and the Pro models. The iPhone 16 series is no different, although its baseline models — the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus — appear to be performing better than expected and giving their Pro siblings some tough competition.
