Karen Read is seeking to delay a wrongful death lawsuit until her criminal trial in connection with the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend is done.

Read wants a judge to delay proceedings in a wrongful death lawsuit filed against her until after her second criminal trial, citing her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

Read is facing criminal charges in the death of her former boyfriend and Boston Police Office John O’Keefe. Her first criminal trial ended this summer with a hung jury. Prosecutors plan to re-try Read in January.
