President Trump said Sunday he would impose sweeping retaliatory measures on Colombia, including tariffs and sanctions, after the South American country turned away two U.S. military aircraft carrying migrants from San Diego.

Gustavo Petro said the United States should not treat Colombian migrants as criminals and that he had already turned away U.S. military flights carrying deportees.

Presidents Donald Trump and Gustavo Petro, in a series of social media posts, defended their views on migration, with the latter accusing Trump of not treating immigrants with dignity during deportation and announcing a retaliatory 25% increase in Colombian tariffs on U.S. goods.
