The Brooklyn Nets nearly beat the defending champion Boston Celtics and the undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers over the weekend, so Monday’s game against the gutted New Orleans Pelicans was supposed to be one of their easier matchups of the season — at least on paper.

At the 3:35 mark of the fourth quarter, New Orleans took a four-point lead on a Boston dunk. The Pelicans didn’t score the rest of the game. Ingram missed a 12-foot running shot with 22 seconds left. With four seconds left, Javonte Green missed a wide-open 3 that could have put the Pelicans back on top.

The Pelicans enter this matchup after a 115-88 loss at the Orlando Magic on Friday in which New Orleans did its best to try to overcome the amount of injuries that the team is dealing with at this time. Brandon Boston Jr. led the team in scoring with 26 points while Jose Alvarado chipped in with 21 points of his own.
