As per the National Hurricane Center's 11 am Friday update, Category 4 Hurricane Kirk is 975 miles east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands and 1655 miles west-southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained wind of 140 mph. It’s moving 12 mph to the northwest.

Large swells from Hurricane Kirk could bring life-threatening surf and rip currents to the East Coast of the U.S. by Sunday.

The hurricane is expected to trigger dangerous swells along the U.S. East Coast, despite moving eastwards across the Atlantic.
