The status of Penn State’s leading rusher is up in the air ahead of Saturday’s matchup with UCLA. Nick Singleton, who leads the Nittany Lions with 408 rushing yards and five total touchdowns, was absent from the team’s practice viewing session on Wednesday.

Penn State returned to the practice field on Wednesday night to continue preparations for its meeting with UCLA. It did so without star junior Nicholas Singleton in uniform. Kaytron Allen led the running backs through position drills.

Before slipping out of the backfield, Singleton flattened Illinois star edge rusher Gabe Jacas, sending the 275-pounder flying to the turf. Then, he snared a high pass from Drew Allar in the flat and bulldozed an Illini linebacker for the first down, igniting the crowd and home bench.
