The show must—and will—go on. The Academy promised today, via The Hollywood Reporter, that they were still very much planning to put a bow on this unpredictable award season, despite rumors that the Oscars may be canceled altogether amidst the ongoing wildfire crisis in Los Angeles.

The U.K. tabloid The Sun posted a story to its website on Tuesday evening suggesting that the Academy is consulting a committee of A-listers about whether to proceed with the ceremony on March 2.

There is no official word if the 97th annual Academy Awards will be canceled. As of Jan. 14, 2025, the show is slated to air on its original date. Though the Oscars ceremony is set to go on as planned, the annual Oscars Nominees Luncheon—scheduled for Feb. 10—was canceled.

Several major events of Hollywood's awards season have been disrupted amid the Pacific Palisades fire in Los Angeles. Others have also been affected.
