A Red Flag Warning that went into effect Monday for San Diego County mountains and valleys has been extended due to strong gusty winds and low relative humidity.
A red flag warning for San Diego County expired Wednesday evening as Santa Ana winds diminished, although dry conditions could still create concern for wildfires in the days to come, forecasters said.
This weekend's cool temperatures and higher humidity are expected to give way to more Santa Anas and a new red flag warning Monday.
As wildfires continued to burn in Los Angeles, several new fires broke out in San Diego County, prompting evacuation orders and warnings.
"A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly," the NWS said.
