I've loved this song since it came out (Fugees first CD was amazing, great talent in that group even though at least 2 of them were terrible people).

He also loved (or at least wanted to love) her, because she's his mom. He said he hates the song, but I think it's a little more complicated than that. Like a bittersweet sort of enjoyment.
