Jul 26, 2024 · I remember going to my first amateur mma event in person and it was insane. We were in an outside venue covered by an old warehouse, in the middle of the country. But every fight was a first round finish or close. It was wild. UFC has tougher matchups for guys, where regionals get tons of squash matches.

Jul 23, 2024 · A lot of fights put on by the UFC amongst contenders are actually quite bad if you remove the commentary, the walk-out, the promos, the hype, and just focus on nothing but the fight. There are some very low level fights that are exciting and brutal but due to marketing people perceive it as less entertaining than title fights.

Dec 2, 2009 · The guy is a legit grappling savant. He was obviously a helluva wrestler but he went to Abu Dhabi after only 9 months of bjj training and gave Andre Galvao all he wanted. Which is absolutely insane. People were legit blown away at how quickly he became a world class grappler. But he's rarely cared to use it in MMA. At least in the UFC.

Because of this, I will allow people to make and edit picks up until 1/10/25. At that point, everyone's picks will be locked in. NOTE: Sometimes the beginning of the year sees rank changes before the first event even happens.
